Quartzite resembles marble while being as durable as granite. These twin features have made quartzite a popular countertop choice for various rooms in the home. Quartzite is available in multiple colors: while most quartzites are white or light-colored, lively color variations exist with additional materials in their composition.
Two of quartzite’s most vital selling points are its hardness and durability: with nearly twice the hardness of glass, quartzite easily withstands common kitchen implements like knives, acids, or vinegar.
Advance Marble & Granite carries quartzite countertops in polished and honed finishes. Quartzite countertops sometimes take more time and money to fabricate and install than other countertop materials. That’s part of why Advance Marble & Granite offers 10% off all countertop remnants competitively priced services.
Call or visit Advance Marble & Granite today for a free quartzite countertop installation estimate.
Caring for quartzite is similar to caring for granite. As with any surface, you should take simple preventative measures to protect your quartzite countertops.
Wipe up counters regularly with a gentle cleanser, water, and a soft cloth or paper towel. Wipe up spills and moisture as quickly as possible, and use coasters, trivets, and cooling racks.
We also recommend using cutting boards at all times because quartzite rates so highly on the hardness scale that it can risk dulling your knives.

Quartzites are composed of metamorphosed sandstone, which makes each quartzite countertop’s porosity slightly different. Some styles will benefit from a sealer application, while others may not need it.
A good rule of thumb for whether your countertop needs sealing is to check your countertop around the kitchen sink. The stone may need a new sealer application if it darkens in contact with water.
Sealing is usually an easy job for most homeowners to do on their own, and you can even find effective sealers at your local retail store. The experts at Advance Marble & Granite will be able to help you determine if your countertop needs sealing and, if so, which kind will work best.
